We’ve worked to develop a simple tool that provides “continuous authorship” (otherwise known as “continuous authentication”): using data collected during the writing process we’ve collected and trained a machine learning model that can consistently identify a student across their submissions in Moodle.

This ensures that the same students is the writer of all written text captured on your Moodle site:
- Forum and Discussions
- Online text assignments
- Essay type questions in the Quiz Module
If you’re interested in reading about the technical development, read more here.
In addition to the powerful features of Moodle and Cursive’s authorship verification, you’ll be able to view new insights about the student writing process and effort, a more complete picture of learning analytics than ever before:
- Aggregate word and character counts for each student
- Time writing for each assignment and students overall
- Easy to use visual verification
