To create valid assessment, there are three things that help to verify authenticity of work:
1 What? – the static text and product that a writer created
2 How? – the process that a writer worked through to create it
Number 1 (“What”) has long been the foundation for assessment.
In recent years, number 2 (“How”) has been accomplished through “process tracking” tools like Turnitin Clarity, Grammarly Authorship, TextReplay, Draftback, Process Feedback and more.
Valid assessment cannot be valid without also answering the most important question:
3 Who?
